Cyclops

I was bored so I drew Cyclops of the X-Men. He's been my favorite character on the team(s), ever since I discoverd him as a kid in "Uncanny X-Men" #138.

Validus!

While hanging out with the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century, a few of the X-Men stumble across Fatal Five member Validus on a mindless rampage. Cyclops leads Colossus and Cannonball in wrangling the misguided beast...

Hanging Out

Another Legion of Super-Heroes and X-Men hang out session, this time in the 31st Century. Timberwolf, Phantom Girl and Ultra Boy share Chinese food, coffee and ice cream with Colossus and Cyclops.

Final February

I wanted to make sure February didn't pass without a drawing, because I hadn't done much of anything lately.

I drew this sketch of The X-Men's Iceman in  my journal with a blue pen and a couple of colored pencils. Nothing fancy or spectacular, just something to pass the time while I was online earlier in the day...

Comics Conundrum

Since I refuse to pay four dollars for a 20-page comic book, for the last year or so Nick has been kind enough to use his big ol' discount (with my money) to buy me the monthly "All-New X-Men" from Marvel Comics for three dollars.

However, now that we no longer work in the same building, and a simple hand-over is no longer convenient, he has been gathering a pile of them, and is going to mail them to me at some point. As you can see, anticipation is high:

Note: Nick drew his first, because I have been bugging him, and I drew mine in response, though the real-life timeline is reversed!

Margins

Nick left a pair of head sketches laying around where I could find them. So I photocopied the page and embellished them with a black pen and a few highlighters!

Wolvie!

I've been practicing on my iPad using the app ProCreate. It's been pretty awesome and keeps me jazzed about drawing. At first I was going to attempt to draw myself as Wolverine as a sort of belated Halloween-themed drawing. But then I just kind of drew Wolverine instead.

I intended for him to be grimacing, as a Wolverine should, but someone pointed out he looks constipated. But hey, Wolverine has normal problems too, right?

First Class: Finale

Wow, I finally made it through this long two-week (and then some) project. Note to self: solo (or maybe the occasional duo) character drawings only for awhile, and without so many updates! I was definitely feeling some mental fatigue at times through this, but I am mostly pleased with the results.

Cyclops leads my ideal version of the original X-Men against a mutant-hunting Sentinel: Iceman, Colossus and Nightcrawler (along with their missing 5th member, a female character to be named later - I could never decide between Siryn and Aurora as I was drawing) - characters with easily-defined, impressively visual power sets.

First Class: Home Stretch

Colossus has taken so much time to ink that I am rapidly losing interest in this project (haha). I even erased Siryn, and am going to stick with four X-Men. I'll fit another Sentinel in the background, or just throw another mountain back there.

A few more inks to go, and then it's color, and then finally finished. I think the next few projects will have just one main figure on which to focus...

I also did some refined pencils on Iceman (along with changing the direction of his left arm), and made the Sentinel's fingers thicker (they seemed pretty feeble in the initial drawing).

Here is the rough outline for my ideal team of 'original X-Men'. I went with my favorite 'true' originals, Cyclops and Iceman; my two favorites from "Giant Size X-Men" #1's international class, Colossus (Soviet Union) and Nightcrawler (Germany); and second generation mutant Siryn (Ireland).

In my universe Professor X went international from the start, collecting teens from around the globe. Other background notes unique to my world: Siryn is Sean Cassidy's daughter, but he was never a mutant; Jean Grey, Wolverine and Apocalypse do not exist; time travel is impossible; and other team members (who join within the first year of the team's genesis) not seen fighting the Sentinel robot include: Sunfire (Japan), Aurora (Canada), Frenzy (USA) and Quicksilver (Romania).

Inks, and then the final colored image will follow as time allows.
