Homemade Gifts

Gift cards and certificates are all well and good, but I made these Christmas gifts for my local nieces & nephews myself. Die-cut snowman shapes that I got in a bag for a dollar, all gussied up with Sharpies, to make personalized 'event' certificates, each marked on the back with name, '2022', and "Hang Out With Food" (or in my oldest nephew's case, "Hang Out With Brewskis").

This will give me one on one time (or smaller groups) with each of them sometime over the winter and spring, because they all often inquire "Want to hang out sometime Uncle Kenny?". This will ensure that time is indeed taken out of our busy lives, to spend together as they grow up into amazing young adults...

Good old balsa wood, coming in handy yet again!

Toon-y

I decided to draw a cutesy Christmas scene, with reindeer and snow people.

Critmas 1 & 2

I jumped right in with Day 1 and Day 2:

Day 1: Icy Jack

Day 2: Shelf Goblin

I included both the initial drawings, and then the colored versions.

December Series Day 16

Today I drew a giant (over 6 inches in diameter) Christmas tree ornament.

Black & White.

I never know if I should color my drawings.

I love the 'Aquarium' setting on my digital camera!

December Series Day 12

Have you ever wondered where that festive maple candy comes from?

Wonder no more:

The magical digestive tracts of vampire elves!

December Series Day 8

Yep, I missed a few days.

Today's offering is based on my retail rant from yesterday. Some shoppers behave horribly in line, loudly griping about the long waits as they shop in DECEMBER, as if they've never done any holiday shopping in their life up until now.

So I "Hulk out" in anger at their rudeness, self-centered airs, and sheer stupidity:

Guest Artists - Ken's Nieces & A Friend

Last night via instant message I extended a drawing challenge to my talented niece Georgia, and her friend Thalia. Wanting to join the fun, my other niece Helena jumped in too! We each drew something "wintery". See the awesome results below, and leave a comment on which ideas you thought were cool or interesting!

Georgia's "Warm Winter Cabin"
Thalia's "Golden Winter Angel"
Helena's "Merry X-Mas, Mr. Narwal!"
Uncle Kenny's "Candy Cane Captive"
